CPEC has been termed as a game changer and this is exactly how Pakistan, China, India and US view it. USA was skeptical about the project throughout and has since its announcement taken a biased and bullying behavior towards Pakistan. Washington’s first response was to rapidly build its relationship with India and to pressurize Pakistan on baseless accusations.
Meanwhile, the affair between India and US has made India quite bold so much so that they cannot refrain from war mongering. They constantly make war threats on false pretense that Pakistan is supporting terrorists whereas the reality is the opposite as India, US and Israel have been backing Tekreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) which has wreaked havoc on Pakistan claiming many innocent lives. While Pakistan has successfully uprooted terrorism from its soil, these false accusations are still being made.
In response to CPEC US seeks to block China’s rise to power and to stop Pakistan from becoming stable and strong. In order to achieve this Israel and America are blindly supporting India’s hegemonic regional plans. What India fails to understand is that CPEC is part of a much bigger initiative OBOR which is supported by India’s longtime ally and friend Russia. Despite China’s attempts to assure India that CPEC would benefit everyone including India, should it choose to participate in it, the Modi regime is blind to reason and have chosen instead to become a puppet in the hands of America.
India in its ambitious approach and under the illusion that they are implementing their plans is losing in its influence in the region by making foes out of friends as the arms race started by the Modi regime is making the entire region quite insecure. Their arms deals are in fact hollowing their reserves and are benefitting the West, particularly America, so much so that in time they will be slaves of American will.
In fact this Indian aggression fueled by its western allies has in fact worked in China’s favor. Maldives turned against India after it blamed India for an internal crisis which escalated to the extent that Maldives had to declare a state of emergency. India further faced embarrassment when China prompted that it would not favor any direct action by India. As a result President Abdullah Yameen, stated that China is one of Maldives’ “most dependable partners”.
Next in line is the story of Nepal when India failed yet again due to its blatant aggression. The current Modi regime in India was against Nepals’s stance of being declared a secular state in 2015 as was the decision of two thirds of Nepal’s legislature. Instead of respecting that stance India used the Indian origin Nepalese, called Madhesi, to start a crisis demanding a change in constitution.
This led to an economic blockade causing shortage of everything from food to fuel which added to the suffering of Nepalese people. As a result of this mindless show of strength India lost its influence in Nepal as the Nepalese people favored a pro-China regime in their country. Here it is important to note the difference in strategy, China is respectful to smaller countries and supports them in their needs whereas India follows a policy of aggression where any decision not liked by the Modi regime is not respected.
Situation in Bangladesh is not much different where the Muslims are against their Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina who has a pro-Hindu view in everything as she derives her strength from Indian support. Furthermore, the border problems are made to remain unsolved as it favors smuggling of materials that favor India. Similar is the condition in Myanmar where Indian decision to deport 40,000 Rohingya muslims backfired as China offered Myanmar a piece of the one belt one road project which was more suited to their needs.
In addition to this China and Pakistan have always had good relations with Srilanka and China’s purchase of Hambantota port in Sri Lanka’s southern coast provides a strategic advantage that is unparalleled. Also the ‘New Colombo initiative by China has immensely worked in its favor and against that of India. All these examples clearly mark similarities between US, Israel and Indian behavior of use of blatant force.
Israel is doing it against Palestine, US is doing it in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and India is doing it in Kashmir and is trying to do it even with its allies in the region. Washington is also pressurizing China to roll back its CPEC related projects and bring these projects to a bare minimum. Pakistan is however, further strengthening its ties with China and both the countries seem to agree to working and are to looking to tackle any obstacle that might come their way.
Pakistan is seeking to further enhance cooperation with Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in order to reduce its dependency on the US. This measure again doesn’t sit well with America as it will further increase Chinese influence in the region and would strengthen Pakistan by reducing its dependency on the West.
