Plate cutting marks indigenous construction of missile boats

The steel plate cutting ceremony of Pakistan Navy’s Fast Attack Craft (Missile) boats was held at Karachi Shipyard, today. Secretary Defence Production, Lt. Gen Shahid Iqbal HI (M) was the Chief Guest.
After the delivery of both Small Tankers cum Utility Ships (STUS) Rasadgar and Madadgar, and launch of F-22P frigate, the FAC Missile boats are being built at KS&EW with the help of China. The vessel will be equipped with anti surface missiles, automatic guns and anti-missile close in weapon system.
Appreciating the efforts of Karachi Shipyard the Chief Guest said that their contribution in Naval shipbuilding is commendable and their capabilities in future will be fully utilized in construction of more naval platforms. He ensured Defence Ministry’s support to KSEW in all its plans for modernization and expansion and expressed his confidence in Pakistan becoming a leading shipbuilding country in the region in line with its potential strategic location.
The Managing Director Karachi Shipyard and Engineering works Commodore Sajid Wazir Khan in his address apprised the audience of the shipbuilding capabilities of Karachi shipyard and said that this project is a challenge and an opportunity to establish the capability to undertake upcoming tasks while ensuring the highest standards of quality.
He lauded indigenous Fast Attack Craft construction and said that this initiative will go a long way towards supporting this important strategic public sector industry.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of Defence Ministry, China Shipbuilding & Offshore Company and senior naval officials.
