31 May: Deadly Bombing in Kabul Is One of the Afghan War’s Worst Strikes. A suspected suicide bomber drove into Kabul’s heavily guarded diplomatic quarter during the morning rush, more than 90 lives ended, hundreds of people were wounded.

02 Jun: A gunman attacked Resorts World Manila in Pasay, Philippines around midnight, caused a major panic within the complex. Around 38 people were dead, due to smoke inhalation from the fire while injuring 70 people.

14 Aug: ROHINGYA MUSLIM REFUGEES — The United Nations has expressed concern over India’s move to deport Rohingya Muslim refugees of Myanmar. A spokesman of the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, at a regular press briefing in New York stressed that refugees should not be returned to countries where they fear persecution once they are registered.

14 Aug: Sierra Leone mudslides: Death toll now above 500, At least 700 missing, Thousands of people have lost their homes. UN Report.

25 Aug: Ongoing  A military operation targeting Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar “seems a textbook example of ethnic cleansing”, according to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.

25 Aug: 2530  Hurricane Harvey strikes the United States as a Category 4 hurricane, causing catastrophic damage to the Houston metropolitan area, mostly due to record-breaking floods. At least 90 deaths were recorded, and total damage reaches $198.6 billion (2017 USD), making Harvey the costliest natural disaster in United States history.
